ABOUT THE AWARDS

The Whistleblowers Awards aim to promote transparency, accountability, and ethical behaviour. We believe that this can be pursued through, amongst others, the following means:

  • Recognising and Protecting Whistleblowers: by recognising and honouring individuals who have exposed wrongdoing or unethical practices within organisations we aim to encourage others to come forward with information without fear of retaliation or stigmatisation.

  • Promoting Ethical Conduct: By showcasing the positive impact of whistleblowers, we send a message that unethical behaviour will not be tolerated in organisations or institutions.

  • Enhancing Transparency:  shedding light on hidden or corrupt activities can lead to improved corporate governance and accountability.

  • Preventing Fraud and Corruption: by incentivising individuals to report fraud, corruption, and other unethical activities. This helps protect the interests of stakeholders and the general public.

  • Legal and Regulatory Compliance: The Whistleblowers Awards operate within legal frameworks and regulations. They aim to ensure that organisations comply with these laws, which are designed to protect whistleblowers and their rights.

  • Public Awareness: These awards seek to raise public awareness about the importance of whistleblowers in maintaining a just and ethical society. This education helps create a culture where ethical behaviour is valued and rewarded.

  • Advocating for Financial and Other Relief for Whistleblowers: By encouraging the state and private organisations to provide financial incentives or livelihood protections to whistleblowers, these awards can help galvanise advocacy for financial support and alleviate hardships.

The Whistleblower Awards primarily aim to recognise and encourage individuals who expose unethical behaviour while promoting ethical conduct, transparency, and accountability within organisations and society as a whole. â€‹â€‹
